Aperture Equipment General Terms and Conditions

1. EQUIPMENT GENERAL

  • 1.1. Equipment must be hired along with studio hire.
  • 1.2. Hirers are not permitted to take the equipment outside of the studio.
  • 1.3. Standard Day Rate begins at 9am and terminates at 6pm.
  • 1.4. The Hirer and their agents listed on the booking form are the only ones permitted to use the equipment.
  • 1.5. The Hirer is not permitted to lend, sub lease or re-hire equipment to any third parties.

2. PAYMENT

  • 2.1. Day rate includes GST.
  • 2.2. Bookings for equipment are essential and need to be made in advance. Otherwise we cannot guarantee the item will be available for hire.
  • 2.3. Photographic personal identification is required in order to pick up the items.
  • 2.4. The equipment hire rate will be added to the final invoice and will need to be paid in full at the conclusion of the studio hire.

3. SAFETY

  • 3.1. Using the flash at full power in quick sequential intervals leads to overheating and the potential for equipment failure. It is important you allow the flash to fully recharge, and cool down between flashes.
  • 3.2. Tungsten light sources produce a tremendous amount of heat. A safety area of 1.5 metres surrounding the light is necessary to prevent fires or other heat related damage.
  • 3.3. Tungsten lights should be handled with heat and flame resistant gloves, such as Kevlar gloves.
  • 3.4. Portable power generators must not be used with any Aperture Studios’ lighting equipment. Portable generators can have significant variations in voltage, which can damage the lights.
  • 3.5. Tungsten lights should be switched off and allowed to cool before being moved to a new location. The filaments are particularly fragile and prone to break especially when they are hot.
  • 3.6. When replacing tungsten lamps, make sure not to touch the lamp with your fingertips. Otherwise the natural oil on your fingertip will degrade the life of the lamp. If you have accidently touched the lamp, wipe it off with ‘isopropyl alcohol’ and a lens cleaning tissue.
  • 3.7. It is highly recommended that all light stands, c-stands and especially boom- stands have at least one shot bag on them. This helps to stabilize the setup.
  • 3.8. Power cables must always be used uncoiled. And should be recoiled in the correct way when they are returned.
  • 3.9. Power cables running along the ground should be gaffer taped or covered up using special cable covers. Failure to do so, could result in people tripping over the cables.

4. ADDITIONAL

  • 4.1. In the event equipment is lost or damaged beyond repair, the hirer is 100% liable for the full replacement cost of the item.
  • 4.2. In the event equipment is damaged, the hirer is 100% liable for the repair costs and also up to two weeks of lost potential hiring revenue.
  • 4.3. The Hirer agrees to indemnify Aperture Studios from and against any and all claims, actions, suits, proceedings, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities, arising out of, connected with, or resulting from the use of the equipment.
  • 4.4. The Hirer agrees to indemnify Aperture Studios against any costs including legal costs, damages, payments, fines, or interests Aperture Studios may incur as a result of the Hirer breaching this agreement.
  • 4.5. Aperture Studios reserves the right to terminate this agreement/booking at any time with or without notice if the Hirer has breached any terms of this agreement or for reasons of force majeure.
